Making a Difference
Richard (Nanawin) Jaques Anishinaabe-Mindido (Big Man) is a professional storyteller, university educator and published author. Anishinaabe-Mindido (Big Man) is an Ojibwe Knowledge Keeper, whose motto is Maada'ookii (Share with Others). Anishinaabe-Mindido is a proud member of the Ojibwe/Cree Nation, and an Elder in the Hudson/Nanawin Families and Polar River Indian Band in Treaty 5.
My Ookomisan (grandmother-grandmother) is Ojibwa/Cree from Poplar River First Nation, Manitoba; my Omishoomisan (grandfathers-grandmother) is Chippewa from Fond Du Lac Indian Nation, Michigan USA.
During his storytelling performance, Richard (Nanawin) Jaques shares his telling of the famous Ojibwe Legends of Nanabush and his adventures on Turtle Island. Listen and enjoy the stories “The Story of Raccoon, “The Horse Fly and the Moose” and many more. During the performance, Richard shares some basic Ojibwe words and talks about his traditional regalia.
Richard speaks for his ancestors and passes along their stories to the present and future generations. Richard will enlighten and entertain with passionate, personal stories and narratives with insight into the Indigenous storytelling experience.
